Softlink / Hardlink (Linux “ln” command) in Windows XP

I was wondering how to create softlink in windows xp as we do in link “ln -s <file>” command, and it’s much useful than just shortcut.
for e.g. you need to share same code base library file across different projects … and want to keep all of them sync. When such issue exist on windows xp, we miss “ln” command of linux.

Link Shell Extension … creates hardlink of any file / folder … from right click menu, and it’s very user friendly implementation. It creates hardlink of source file.

UC 2.1

If UC gives “Out of Memory” error install the following program Microsoft Setup.exe

NOTE: This tool has some serious bug, On closing, it prompt to delete converted files, and if you click yes, it will delete all files of that folder. So always do your operation in a new seperate folder. (it deleted all my desktop files *sadly*)

Free Bandwidth Monitoring Tool

NetWorx – Free Bandwidth Monitoring and Usage Reporting

Now a days, i’m using Mobilink infinity, and wanted a free bandwidth monitoring tool and alternative of DU Meter (which is paid). So here is my finding.

NetWorx realtime graph

NetWorx is a simple and free, yet powerful tool that helps you objectively evaluate your bandwidth situation. You can use it to collect //
// bandwidth usage data and measure the speed of your Internet or any other network connection. NetWorx can help you identify possible sources of network problems, ensure that you do not exceed the bandwidth limits specified by your ISP, or track down suspicious network activity characteristic of Trojan horses and hacker attacks.

NetWorx general statistics NetWorx daily statistics

The program allows you to monitor all your network connections or a specific network connection (such as Ethernet or PPP) only. The software also features a system of highly customizable visual and sound alerts. You can set it up to alert you when the network connection is down or when some suspicious activity, such as unusually heavy data flow, occurs. It can also automatically disconnect all dialup connections and shut down the system.

The incoming and outgoing traffic is represented on a line chart and logged to a file, so that you can always view statistics about your daily, weekly and monthly bandwidth usage and dialup duration. The reports can be exported to a variety of formats, such as HTML, MS Word and Excel, for further analysis.

Screenshot Browser Testing

what we need now is a system that makes it easy to test websites cross browser. There are websites out there that aim to do this. Some of them are:

All of these services, however, only allow you to get a screenshot of the website you are testing. This is great if you are just testing a static page, but horrible if you need to test interactivity. More and more websites are no longer static pages, but dynamic AJAX applications. There are some services that let you use remote computers to test websites in different browsers, but you need a blazing fast net connection in order to see animations and the like that are increasingly popular in websites. Another downside to these services is that they usually cost a good sum of money!
